Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive core technical documentation:
    Create
    user manuals
    ,
    online help systems
    ,
    tutorials
    ,
    API documentation
    , and other technical documentation for a variety of software and hardware products, ensuring clarity and ease of use.
  • Create technical marketing content:
    Draft, edit, and contribute to
    marketing collateral
    such as
    datasheets
    ,
    case studies
    ,
    white papers
    , and
    technical briefs
    that communicate product value and capabilities to a non-technical audience.
  • Write and edit technical blogs:
    Research, write, and edit engaging, technically accurate
    blog posts
    and articles to drive interest, explain complex concepts, and support the company's content marketing strategy.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs):
    Work closely with engineers, developers, product managers, and marketing teams to gather information, understand product features, and ensure
    accuracy
    and
    completeness
    across all technical and marketing-related material.
  • Ensure brand and voice consistency:
    Review all generated content to ensure it aligns with the company's
    style guide
    ,
    brand voice
    , and
    technical standards
    .
  • Stay updated on industry trends:
    Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in technical documentation, content strategy, and
    technical marketing trends
    to improve content effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing, technology, or a related field.
  • Strong technical writing skills: Excellent command of grammar, style, and clarity in written communication.
  • Familiarity with various software and hardware platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in creating user manuals, online help systems, and other technical documentation.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and authoring tools.
  • Experience in SaaS, Networking, or Web application development sectors.
  • Experience with single-sourcing and content reuse strategies.
  • Knowledge of XML and other content markup languages.

Additional Information

A 40-hours working week is standard in this role, but flexible working practices are common and you may need to work outside of a typical 9am to 5pm pattern.

Your first role will typically be of a Technical writer trainee/intern. With experience and relevant professional qualifications, you can move into the role of Information Developer.
