  • A System Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and reliable operation of an organization's computer systems, servers, and networks to ensure security, efficiency, and high availability. Key duties include configuring and managing hardware and software, providing user support and managing user accounts, monitoring system performance, performing security tests, managing network infrastructure, and implementing data backup and recovery plans.

  • Core Responsibilities

  • Hardware & Software Management:

Installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining computer hardware (servers, PCs, laptops) and software (operating systems, applications).

  • System Maintenance & Operations:

Ensuring systems are running efficiently, applying patches and updates, and performing regular system checks.

  • Security & Data Integrity:

Protecting the IT infrastructure from threats, managing user permissions, and implementing data backup and disaster recovery strategies.

  • User Support:

Providing technical assistance to employees, troubleshooting issues, and managing user accounts and access.

  • Network Management:

Installing and configuring network devices, managing network file systems, and ensuring reliable network connectivity.

  • Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Operating Systems:

Proficiency with various operating systems such as Windows and Linux.

  • Networking:

Understanding of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and network equipment.

  • Troubleshooting:

Strong problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose and resolve system failures and technical issues.

  • Security Best Practices:

Knowledge of security protocols, vulnerability management, and user access control.

  • Scripting & Automation:

Skills in scripting languages to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency.

  • Cloud Computing:

Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure for modern system administration.
