General Manager Operations

1. Role Purpose

The General Manager -Operations (Ujjain) will lead the end-to-end operations of the Pratibha Swaraj garment facility, covering Garmenting, Seamless Production, Industrial Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, HR/Admin, and Utilities. The role is responsible for building a lean, system-driven, and people-focused operation that supports the company's capacity and quality growth plans. The GM will embed Japanese manufacturing principles such as Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to deliver best-in-class productivity, quality, and workforce engagement. The role will drive operational excellence while ensuring scalability from 2 lakh sewing minutes/day in 2026 to 12.5 lakh sewing minutes/day by December 2027.

2. Reporting Structure

• Administrative / Day-to-Day Reporting: Vice President - Seamless Business
• Work Location: Ujjain Garment Facility (Full-time Presence Required)

3. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire operations across Garmenting and Seamless production units, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics are achieved.
• Establish and monitor key operational systems, review mechanisms, and performance dashboards.
• Implement Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and other Japanese manufacturing systems to enhance productivity and workplace discipline.
• Drive people development, skill enhancement, and workforce stability through structured training programs and effective leadership.
• Ensure full compliance with customer, social, and environmental standards, achieving zero major non-conformities.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, facility upkeep, and utilities management to minimize downtime and optimize energy consumption.
• Develop, train, and motivate a 5,000-strong workforce to build long-term operational stability and engagement.
• Collaborate closely with the VP - Seamless for alignment on production planning, product mix, and customer requirements.
• Plan and execute capacity expansion phases, including line setup, layout planning, and integration of new machinery.
• Ensure cost competitiveness by optimizing cost per minute, manpower utilization, and line efficiency.

6. Candidate Profile

• Experience: 15-20 years in garment manufacturing, with at least 5-10 years independently handling a large-scale apparel facility serving leading global and domestic apparel brands.
• Education: B.Tech / BE in Textile / Apparel / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Skills: Proven expertise in lean manufacturing, process discipline, and people development.
• Leadership: Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Cultural Orientation: Familiarity with Japanese manufacturing systems preferred (5S, Kaizen, TPM, Standard Work).
