A multifaceted development of its kind in India, it includes the musical Fountain of Joy, an upscale retail experience, a multivenue cultural centre, selection of cafés and fine dining restaurants, serviced apartments and offices, and one of India's largest convention facilities – the Jio World Convention Centre. The Centre opened to the public with the Jio World Convention Centre and the Fountain of Joy at Dhirubhai Ambani Square in early 2022. The Jio World Centre is strategically located in Mumbai's vibrant business and cultural hub of Bandra Kurla Complex. This centre has been developed with an international design vocabulary, while honoring the culture and spirit of India.
Job Purpose:
The Research Executive will play a pivotal role in positioning the Jio World Convention Centre as a preferred destination for international conferences and association events in the APAC region. The role focuses on identifying and engaging potential international and domestic association partners, nurturing relationships, and generating pre-qualified opportunities for the sales team. By combining in-depth market research with strategic outreach, the incumbent will help expand the venue's global client base, support targeted marketing initiatives, and contribute to securing high-profile events for the destination.
Job Accountabilities:
Relationship Development & Engagement
- Build and nurture strong relationships with industry leaders and decision-makers in target sectors.
- Facilitate introductions between stakeholders and the convention centre's sales team to progress opportunities.
- Maintain a network of advocates to support lead generation and bidding processes.
Lead Generation & Conversion
- Identify and qualify potential convention leads through market intelligence, ICCA resources, and sector engagement.
- Work towards pre-bid targets and hand qualified leads to the bid development team.
- Track the conversion of leads and measure success through established KPIs.
Market Research & Sector Intelligence
- Monitor trends in research, innovation, and academic activities to identify new event opportunities.
- Understand and report on priority sectors and research focus areas in India and globally.
- Maintain a competitor database and update regularly with market developments.
Event & Bid Support
- Organize site inspections, familiarization tours, and industry-specific events to support relationship-building.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and funding applications.
- Contribute to the development of the annual sales and research plan.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate records of activities, leads, and stakeholder engagements in CRM systems.
- Provide timely reports on meetings, industry trends, and outcomes.
- Draft correspondence, sector profiles, and internal updates as needed.
Internal Collaboration
- Coordinate with the internal sales team to align lead generation efforts.
- Attend and contribute to sales strategy and business development meetings.
Skills/ Competencies required:
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent research and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- High-level communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive and self-driven approach to work.
- Familiarity with CRM/database management tools.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Flexibility to manage changing priorities and event-driven schedules.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in business development, research coordination, sales support, or stakeholder engagement (preferably in events, MICE, or convention centre).
- Exposure to working with academic or research institutions is an advantage.
- Experience in lead generation and/or event bidding is desirable.
- Knowledge of India's R&D, education, and innovation sectors is a plus.
Experience:
- Demonstrated track record of identifying, qualifying, and nurturing international or high-value event leads.
- Experience in preparing bid proposals and coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
- Prior exposure to the MICE, hospitality, or convention centre sector is preferred.
