Job Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Level Word Accessibility Tester to join our team in Hyderabad on a full-time basis. This position involves ensuring that Microsoft Word documents meet established accessibility standards, enabling all users to effectively access and utilize business content.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong expertise in MS Word accessibility features (Mandatory skill) demonstrated through hands-on experience in remediating documents for accessibility compliance.
  • Proven ability to create and utilize accessible Word templates (Mandatory skill) to streamline document accessibility workflows and optimize efficiency.
  • Proficiency in using screen readers such as JAWS and NVDA to test document accessibility and ensure compatibility with assistive technologies.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 for comprehensive compliance during document testing and remediation.
  • Ability to identify and address common accessibility barriers within Word documents, such as improper heading structures, color contrast, and image alt text.
  • Knowledge of best practices for conveying complex visual content, such as tables and charts, in accessible formats for diverse users.
  • Attention to detail and an analytical mindset for thorough accessibility inspections and defect documentation with actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with document owners, designers, and stakeholders to improve document accessibility across various projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate Microsoft Word documents to ensure adherence to accessibility standards including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
  • Leverage MS Word accessibility features and accessible Word templates to remediate and optimize existing documents for all users.
  • Test document accessibility using assistive technologies such as JAWS and NVDA to validate compatibility and user experience.
  • Collaborate with content creators to educate and guide them in producing accessibility-compliant Word documents.
  • Document and report accessibility issues in detail, providing clear remediation steps and improvement recommendations.
  • Stay current with evolving accessibility standards and best practices, integrating them into daily workflow and team processes.
  • Contribute to the development of internal resources, such as checklists and guidelines, to drive organization-wide document accessibility.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide subject matter expertise on document accessibility requirements and techniques.
