The Website & Portal Accessibility Developer will be responsible for conducting comprehensive accessibility assessments and implementing remediation for the client websites, portals, and digital documents. This role requires strong technical expertise in WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA, and Section 508 compliance, along with hands-on experience in Drupal, Salesforce Lightning/Aura/Visualforce, Appian, and PDF accessibility.

The selected developer will collaborate with accessibility consultants, QA testers, and DIR IT staff to ensure all digital assets meet federal and state accessibility requirements before the April 2026 compliance deadline.

Key Responsibilities

Accessibility Assessment & Remediation

• Conduct end-to-end accessibility audits of client public websites, portals, and digital PDFs against WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards.
• Identify and document accessibility issues, using a Red / Yellow / Green severity coding system aligned with DIR's Statement of Work.
• Implement front-end and structural code fixes in Drupal and Salesforce environments, ensuring semantic HTML, ARIA accuracy, and compliant color contrast.
• Remediate scanned and digital PDFs using Adobe Acrobat Pro, PAC 3 / PAC 2021, and CommonLook PDF tools.
• Collaborate with UX, design, and QA teams to ensure accessible design patterns and templates.

Testing & Verification

• Perform manual, automated, and assistive-technology testing using tools such as WAVE, axe-core, IBM Equal Access Checker, Siteimprove, NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
• Validate portal and dynamic interactions (modals, form errors, keyboard traps, focus states) in Salesforce Lightning and Appian.
• Conduct user-based validation with assistive-technology users to confirm real-world accessibility outcomes.

Documentation & Reporting

• Develop detailed accessibility assessment reports, remediation logs, and verification summaries per client standards.
• Produce documentation suitable for VPAT/ACR reporting, tracking compliance with each WCAG 2.1 AA criterion.
• Support the creation of an ongoing Accessibility Maintenance Plan to ensure sustainable compliance.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in digital accessibility assessment and remediation for government or enterprise systems.
• Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA, ADA Title II/III, and Section U.S.C. 794d).
• Experience developing and remediating content within:
• Drupal CMS (themes, templates, and modules)
• Salesforce (Visualforce, Aura, Lightning Web Components)
• Appian portals and workflows
• Proficiency with PDF accessibility remediation tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro, PAC 3 / PAC 2021, CommonLook PDF).
• Experience using automated testing tools: WAVE, axe-core, Siteimprove, IBM Equal Access Checker.
• Proficient with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking).
• Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, ARIA roles, and responsive frameworks (Bootstrap, etc.).
• Strong documentation and communication skills, particularly for government compliance reporting.

• Strong collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams (designers, developers, testers, and compliance officers).
• Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines while ensuring full accessibility conformance.

Pay: ₹10, ₹52,073.28 per month
