Data Tester

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Tester Intern to join our team for a 6-month unpaid internship. As a Data Tester Intern, you will primarily work with Excel and contribute to creating and maintaining databases while ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data. Key Responsibilities

Excel Work and Data Analysis:

• Handle large data sets in Excel for analysis, validation, and reporting.
• Perform data cleaning, formatting, and deduplication in Excel using tools like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, filters, and formulas.
• Create detailed reports and summaries of data findings using charts, graphs, and Excel dashboards.
• Ensure data consistency and integrity across multiple Excel workbooks and sheets.

Database Creation and Maintenance:

• Assist in designing and creating databases using tools like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft Access.
• Import and export data between Excel and databases.
• Create database tables, schemas, and relationships to organize and store data systematically.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to validate, retrieve, and manipulate data.

Data Validation and Testing:

• Validate data accuracy and consistency between Excel files and databases.
• Perform manual and automated testing to identify data discrepancies or errors.
• Document and report defects or inconsistencies in data using tools like JIRA or Trello.
• Develop detailed test cases and scenarios for data validation.

Defect Identification and Reporting:

• Identify errors and inconsistencies in data sets and document them for further resolution.
• Collaborate with developers and data analysts to resolve data quality issues.
• Prioritize and categorize defects based on severity and business impact.

Collaboration and Learning:

• Work closely with QA engineers, data analysts, and developers to understand data workflows.
• Learn and apply industry-standard tools and techniques for database creation and data testing.
• Contribute ideas to enhance data validation processes and database efficiency.

Requirements

• Education:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.

• Skills & Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, charts, and Excel macros are a plus).

• Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL for data storage and retrieval.
• Familiarity with data formats like CSV, JSON, and XML.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

• Tools (Preferred but Not Mandatory):

• SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft Access).

• Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis.
• Bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).

• Data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) are a bonus.
