Overview:  The Senior Director of technology is responsible for all design, development, and operational activities of the teams being managed.  This includes providing vision to the business team on how the product being developed may fit into the market and providing vision to the technical teams on how the software should be developed to meet Inovalon system architecture goals.  The Senior Director position will require significant knowledge of the HEDIS/quality improvement market.  In addition, the Senior Director will be required to understand how to manage and process large amounts of information including the best methods to model and store the data.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate staff required for the achievement of the Company's technology initiatives;
  • Oversee staff members when developing software changes required to support development efforts and continued production software operations;
  • Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge regarding products and services of the Company to achieve product development and functionality requirements;
  • Work with the team to assess technological options and design offerings supporting scalable, high-performance, and highly available environments;
  • Work in tandem with key technology and business stakeholders to build a technology blueprint, that encompasses a corporate view of existing and pipeline portfolio items;
  • Assess challenges, analyze gaps, and provide recommendations that align people, process, and technology to deliver expected results;
  • Participate with Company leadership in the strategic development of technology initiatives to identify product and system enhancements which will improve customer and stakeholder value;
  • Build and mentor your teams supporting skills development and career progression, and coordinate and communicate with senior and executive management to ensure goals are met within budget;
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to establish the highest level of efficiency and best practice, including process changes, and tool enhancements; and
  • Drive a high level of associates' satisfaction and retention.
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement;
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position;
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company;
  • Uphold responsibilities relative to the separation of duties for applicable processes and procedures within your job function; and

  • On Call Policy: Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior management, cross-functional business and software development role;
  • 5+ years of experience in a healthcare organization strongly preferred;
  • Proven ability to manage day-to-day development and operational activities;
  • Understanding of industry standards including but not limited to management methodologies and software development methodologies (specifically agile and Scrum practices);
  • Experience managing complex software development projects/program both in waterfall and Agile environment from inception through delivery;
  • Leads and manages employees, delegating work, assigning projects, providing guidance and development opportunities, as well as reviewing and providing feedback on performance on a regular basis;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, subject matter experts, internal / external customers and peers;
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, including the ability to facilitate a cross-organizational team toward achieving a common goal; and
  • Analytic, detail-oriented and highly-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, MIS, IT, or related field is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time);
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
  • Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
  • Travel for this position will include less than 5% locally usually for training purposes.
