Maintenance & Repair Support Center Manager

The role ensures that repair estimates, costs, vendor performance, billing accuracy, materials utilization, and cycle time are optimized to meet company commercial, operational, and financial objectives. This position serves as the central coordination point between regional Hub Inspectors, depots, procurement, finance, leasing companies, and Area, Region, Global stakeholders to maintain equipment safety, cost-efficiency, and optimal container availability.

1. Leadership, Governance & Operational Management

•Lead, mentor, and develop a team of M&R Support Coordinators/Senior Coordinators.

•Establish and enforce M&R standards, SOPs, and audit frameworks.

•Oversee evaluation of repair documents in MARS to ensure commercially viable and quality-focused decisions.

•Monitor emergency repair handling and risk mitigation processes.

•Own SLA governance, including vendor compliance, SAP linking, tariff adherence, and vendor performance dashboards.

•Ensure accurate documentation of on-hire/off-hire inspections for leasing companies and support leasing claim recovery.

•Oversee escalation management for complex estimates, repeat failures, and vendor disputes.

2. Cost, Quality & Performance Optimization

•Drive cost analysis, cycle time reduction, and repair performance benchmarking.

•Analyze ad-hoc costs, exception scenarios, and material usage deviations.

•Identify root causes for recurring damages and lead continuous improvement programs.

•Conduct and support remote audit preparations and standardized QA checks in collaboration with regional Hub teams.

•Support local and regional tariff negotiations through data, insights, and vendor scorecards.

3. Advanced Reporting, Insights & Analytics

•Own the Support Center reporting framework, providing weekly, monthly, and quarterly insights to leadership.

•Deliver actionable recommendations to improve depot efficiency, repair cost alignment, and container turnaround.

•Drive automation and visualization initiatives using recognized systems and analytical platforms such as Performance Dashboards, etc.

•Translate operational data into business insights to support decision-making and group-level strategic initiatives.

4. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

•Act as the communication bridge between depots, Hub Inspectors, procurement, finance, logistics teams and global functions.

•Lead vendor reviews, performance dialogues, and contract compliance feedback loops.

•Maintain strong relationships with leasing companies, supporting evidence-based damage claim recovery.

•Represent the Support Center in regional forums, continuous improvement boards, and strategic planning sessions.

Education

•University Degree preferred (Engineering or Business Administration desirable).

•IICL Reefer/Dry Inspection Certification or equivalent technical competency.

Skills

•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

•Proficiency in M&R systems (including CEDEX coding rules).

•Experience working with large-scale data, BI tools, and dashboard reporting (preferred).

•Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills.

•Strong leadership skills with experience managing people and cross-functional teams.

•Fluent English (written & spoken); local language advantageous.

Experience

•Minimum 6–10 years in container M&R, depot operations, logistics, or equipment management roles.

•Prior experience in audit, estimation approval, vendor control, or leasing claims is a plus.

•Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, multinational operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with reefer, standard, and special container repair processes.

•Knowledge of materials specifications, damage assessment, and offshore repair billing.

•Familiarity with shipping industry systems, procurement frameworks, and SLA governance.
