Manager - Town Planning

Role Overview:
Reporting to: CEO / General Manager Operations.
The Manager Town Planning will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and managing the development of infrastructure and urban services within Electronics City Industrial Township. The role involves coordinating with statutory authorities, industries, consultants, and contractors to ensure sustainable, efficient, and future-ready township management aligned with best practices in urban planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Development
Prepare, review, and implement master plans, zoning plans, and land use policies for the township.
- Ensure alignment of development projects with ELCITAs vision of a smart, sustainable, and industry-friendly township.
 
2. Infrastructure & Facilities Management
- Plan and coordinate projects related to roads, utilities, public amenities, transport, and civic infrastructure.
 - Evaluate proposals for new developments and provide technical guidance.
 
3. Regulatory & Compliance
- Liaise with urban development authorities, government departments, and regulatory bodies for approvals.
 - Ensure compliance with the Karnataka Town & Country Planning Act, environmental norms, and other applicable regulations.
 
4. Stakeholder Management
- Engage with industries, institutions, and service providers to address infrastructure and planning needs.
 - Manage consultants, contractors, and vendors for planning-related assignments.
 
5. Research & Benchmarking
- Study best practices in urban and industrial township planning globally.
 - Develop policies and frameworks to enhance quality of life, efficiency, and sustainability in Electronics City.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Town Planning / Urban Planning / Architecture / Civil Engineering (with specialization in planning preferred).
 - 812 years of experience in urban/town planning, preferably in industrial townships, smart cities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
 - Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, zoning regulations, GIS tools, and sustainability concepts.
 - Experience in in the areas of building plan approvals & license, and commencement, completion & building occupancy certificates.
 - Working knowledge of Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964; Karnataka Town & Country Planning Act, 1961; and byelaws of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
 - Fluency in reading, writing & speaking of Kannada and English is essential.
 
Skills & Competencies:
- Strategic thinking with an eye for long-term development.
 - Strong project management and execution skills.
 - Excellent stakeholder engagement and coordination abilities.
 - Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, or other planning tools.
 - Familiarity with environmental and smart city planning practices.
