Role Summary
The Testing Lead will oversee the quality assurance process during software development. The lead manages a team of testers and works closely with developers to ensure that software products meet defined quality standards before release. This role involves creating test strategies, developing automation frameworks, monitoring metrics, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Define test scope and plans
– Determine the scope of testing for each release based on requirements and develop comprehensive test plans, obtaining approval from management and development teams - Set testing metrics and manage test effort
– Establish key metrics (e.g., defect density, open defect count) to assess quality and calculate the effort required for a release - Manage and mentor the QA team
– Lead a team of testers, balance resources based on required skills, identify skill gaps, and provide training and mentorship. - Select and optimize test tools and frameworks
– Choose appropriate tools for test management and automation and educate team members on their use; provide thought leadership for automation initiatives and encourage adoption of new tools and practices. - Develop automation frameworks
– Build scalable automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium and BDD frameworks and automate UI and API test cases to increase coverage. - Monitor test execution and progress
– Track testing activities, reallocate resources when necessary, and ensure timely delivery; coordinate smoke tests during peak periods. - Collaborate with stakeholders
– Participate in sprint planning, stand‑up meetings, and design sessions; communicate status updates and coordinate with development, product, and business teams. - Identify and mitigate risks
– Prepare risk mitigation plans for schedule delays and address issues that testers face during the cycle. - Encourage continuous improvement and team engagement
– Create a positive, collaborative environment, retain skilled resources by providing leadership opportunities, and plan knowledge‑transfer sessions. 
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience
– At least 5 years of experience in software testing and QA leadership, including hands‑on experience with automation frameworks. Experience building test suites for scalable applications and leading both on‑site and off‑site teams is desirable. - Technical skills
– Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies and tools; proficiency with automation and testing tools such as Selenium, Requests/Postman, TestRail, and BrowserStack. Ability to develop automation frameworks using languages such as Python and
BDD frameworks
. - Test management tools
– Experience using test management and bug‑tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Quality Center) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git and Jenkins. - Analytical and leadership abilities
– Strong analytical skills for identifying defects, tracking metrics, and interpreting big‑data testing results. Ability to lead and motivate a team, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and collaborate across functions. - Education and certifications
– Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Certifications such as ISTQB/ISEB or CSQA/CSQE are a plus. 
Preferred Attributes
- Knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall development lifecycles.
 - Understanding in DevOps practices and cloud environments.
 - Familiarity with performance testing tools and metrics (e.g., LoadRunner, JMeter, or similar).
 - Commitment to continuous learning and adoption of emerging testing technologies.
