AVP – Operations/Site Head (Chemical Industry)

• Oversees all plant operations, including production, quality, and supply chain, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Driving operational efficiency through process optimization, managing budgets, leading teams, and implementing digital transformation initiatives like automation and ERP systems.
• The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, EHS, and relevant industry standards.

Key responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

• Directing and optimizing all plant operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and engineering, to meet performance targets.

Strategic Planning:

• Developing and executing strategic plans to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and align with long-term business objectives.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality compliance (e.g., ISO, GMP, OSHA) across all plant activities.

Team Management:

• Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of managers and staff across different departments.

Process Improvement:

• Implementing continuous improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance productivity and minimize waste.

Supply Chain Management:

• Overseeing supply chain functions, including procurement, inventory management, logistics, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.

Digital Transformation:

• Leading the implementation of digital tools for production planning, performance monitoring, and data-driven decision-making, such as ERP systems, Power BI, and AI/ML applications.

Budget and P&L:

• Managing the plant's P&L, overseeing budgets, and optimizing the use of resources like machinery, materials, and manpower.

Preferred candidate profile

1. BE in a relevant field such as Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with Extensive experience 20+ years in manufacturing, with significant leadership experience in operations, often within the chemical or related industries.

2. Proven track record as a Unit Head/Site Head in chemicals manufacturing.

3. Hands-on knowledge of plant utilities (steam boilers, cooling towers, chillers, compressors, etc.).

4. Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, safety, and quality systems.

5. Ability to manage multi-plant, multi-product operations.

Strong business acumen, strategic mindset, and leadership skills.

Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).

6. Familiarity with digital tools and ERP systems.

7. Excellent strategic planning, financial acumen, and P&L management skills.

8. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
