Position: Agency Manager / Relationship Manager

Department: Sales & Distribution Agency Channel (Motor & General Insurance)

Location: Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar

Reports to: Branch Manager / Area Sales Manager

Role Summary

The Agency Manager/Relationship Manager will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a team of insurance agents (PoSP/Advisors) to achieve business targets in Motor Insurance and other General Insurance products. The role demands strong sales drive, channel development skills, and customer relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Business Development & Sales

  2. Drive sales of motor insurance and general insurance products through the agency channel.

  3. Achieve monthly/quarterly business targets (premium collection, policy issuance, agent activation).
  4. Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

  5. Agent Recruitment & Activation

  6. Recruit, license, and onboard new insurance agents/PoSPs.

  7. Ensure timely activation and productivity of new agents.
  8. Improve active agent ratio in the assigned territory.

  9. Training & Mentoring

  10. Provide regular product, sales, and compliance training to agents.

  11. Motivate, coach, and guide agents to improve performance and retention.

  12. Relationship Management

  13. Build strong relationships with agents to increase loyalty and long-term engagement.

  14. Act as the first point of contact for agents, resolving business or service-related issues.
  15. Support customers through agents in policy servicing, claim settlement, and renewals.

  16. Compliance & Quality

  17. Ensure all business activities comply with IRDAI regulations and company policies.

  18. Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and MIS.
  19. Drive ethical business practices and maintain brand reputation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Recruitment and activation of agents/PoSPs.
  • Premium collection and policy issuance.
  • Agent productivity and persistency ratio (renewals).
  • Agent retention and engagement.
  • Customer satisfaction scores.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Education: Graduate in any discipline (MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 15 years in sales (insurance/BFSI preferred, agency/PoSP channel experience an advantage).
  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Sales and target orientation.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Training and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of Motor Insurance products desirable.
