Roles and Responsibilities of a Finance Manager

  • Cash & Bank Management
  • Perform regular cash and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Monitor daily cash flow, maintain liquidity levels, and update management on fund position.
  • Manage cheque receiving, deposit, and updation in accounting records on a timely basis.
  • Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
  • Oversee credit control by setting client credit limits and monitoring outstanding balances.
  • Issue payment reminders to clients and follow up with the sales team for overdue collections.
  • Reconcile customer accounts periodically to ensure correctness.
  • Accounts Payable & Cost Control
  • Ensure timely vendor payments while monitoring cash outflows.
  • Implement cost control measures to optimize expenses and improve profitability.
  • Track purchase orders, GRNs, and vendor invoices for accuracy.
  • Ledger & Bookkeeping
  • Maintain up-to-date ledgers for customers, vendors, and general accounts.
  • Supervise journal entries, adjustments, and closing activities to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure books of accounts comply with statutory and internal audit requirements.
  • Statutory Compliance & Taxation
  • Ensure timely TDS deduction, deposit, and return filing as per statutory deadlines.
  • Oversee GST compliance including return filing (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, annual return, etc.), reconciliation with GSTR-2B, and resolution of mismatches.
  • Coordinate with auditors for statutory, internal, and tax audits.
  • Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, and other applicable laws (if applicable).
  • MIS & Reporting
  • Prepare MIS reports (daily/weekly/monthly) on cash flow, receivables, payables, profitability, and expense tracking for management review.
  • Generate financial analysis and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support management in budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Inventory, Purchase & Sales return Monitoring
  • Monitor stock purchase, consumption, and sales return on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate with the inventory team to reconcile physical stock with books of accounts.
  • Identify discrepancies and ensure corrective actions.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement
  • Establish and monitor internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Streamline financial processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for finance and accounts.
  • Team Coordination & Support
  • Liaise with sales, procurement, and operations teams for smooth financial transactions.
  • Guide and train the accounts team to ensure timely and accurate execution of financial tasks.
  • Act as a point of contact for external auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
  • Other Key Responsibilities
  • Manage payroll processing and compliance.
  • Oversee loan/OD facilities with banks and ensure timely interest/EMI payments.
  • Support management in investment planning, and financial strategy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
