Role & responsibilities

Skipper Limited is seeking a seasoned General Manager - Quality to lead the QA/QC function for its Tower Division.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural steel fabrication, knowledge of galvanizing and rolling mills and quality systems in the tower or steel manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions across tower manufacturing units.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IS, ASTM, and other relevant standards.
  • Oversee fabrication quality, welding inspections, and galvanizing process control.
  • Implement and monitor quality systems, SOPs, and process audits.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including customer audits.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing quality team across locations.
    • Collaborate with production, design, and project teams to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for all QA/QC activities.

Preferred candidate profile

Education:

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Civil / Metallurgy or related field

Experience:

2030 years of experience of quality management in tower manufacturing, structural steel fabrication, or EPC projects.

Skills:


• Strong knowledge of galvanizing, welding standards, NDT, and structural steel codes.


• Experience in handling large-scale fabrication units and multi-location teams.


• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
