A. EXIM Strategy & Leadership

  • Formulate and implement EXIM strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Drive export growth and optimize import processes to reduce cost and lead time.
  • Ensure full compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and government policies.
  • Streamline processes through automation, digital tools, and data-driven decisions.

C. Import Operations

  • Manage complete import cycle: purchase order documentation clearance inward logistics GRN.
  • Scrutinize import documents such as Bill of Entry, commercial invoice, packing list, COO, etc.
  • Monitor customs duties, IGST, BOE filings, and ensure correct classification under HSN.
  • Plan imports to optimize inventory and reduce demurrage/detention charges.
  • Coordinate with global suppliers, forwarders, and inland transporters for timely material flow.

D. Compliance & Regulatory

  • Ensure adherence to:

  • DGFT regulations

  • RBI guidelines
  • Customs Act & EXIM policy
  • FEMA guidelines

  • Trade compliance rules

  • Apply for and manage:

  • EPCG licenses

  • Advance Authorization
  • Duty drawback

  • MEIS/RoDTEP claims

  • Maintain proper records for customs audits and DGFT inspections.

E. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with CHAs, shipping lines, freight forwarders, transporters, and regulatory bodies.
  • Negotiate ocean freight, air freight, and logistics contracts to achieve cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure SLA adherence.

F. Financial & Commercial Responsibilities

  • Drive cost optimization across EXIM operations.
  • Monitor freight costs, customs duty impacts, and optimize landed cost.
  • Manage LC documentation, bank negotiations, payments, insurance, credit terms, etc.
  • Ensure accurate costing for export/import pricing.

G. Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to:

  • Foreign exchange

  • Geopolitical issues
  • Delays and disruptions

  • Compliance exposures

  • Ensure robust insurance coverage (marine, transit, cargo).

H. Team Management

  • Lead and mentor EXIM executives/officers.
  • Build capabilities through training on documentation, compliance, and systems.
  • Ensure high-performing, compliant, and efficient EXIM operations.
