Job Description Summary
We are looking for a talented Power Transformer Electrical Designer to join our team at the Global Engineering Center. This role requires a skilled designer with a solid foundation in power transformer and shunt reactor electrical design, including internal connections. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of international standards, experience with failure analysis, and proficiency in design tools like DFMEA. A strong understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools would be an advantage. The position will require occasional travel for project-related activities.
Job Description
Role & Responsibilities:
- Design electrical systems for power transformers and shunt reactors, focusing on internal connections, performance optimization, and overall system functionality.
- Develop and optimize internal electrical connections and layout designs to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of transformers and reactors.
- Ensure that designs adhere to international standards and regulations such as ISO, IEC, IEEE, and other industry-specific guidelines.
- Utilize failure analysis techniques, especially Root Cause Analysis (RCA), to investigate transformer and reactor failures, identifying underlying issues and suggesting improvements.
- Conduct and contribute to Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) to assess potential risks and design weaknesses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Apply FEA tools (experience with tools like ANSYS is a plus) to simulate and evaluate key parameters like electromagnetic fields, thermal performance, and mechanical stress within transformer and reactor designs.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams, external suppliers, and clients to ensure the integration of electrical designs with other systems and provide technical support as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of design specifications, reports, and compliance with industry standards. Document any changes to designs, materials, and processes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, specifically with power transformers and shunt reactors.
- Strong understanding of power transformer and shunt reactor electrical design principles.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ISO, IEC, IEEE, and others.
- Hands-on experience in conducting DFMEA and failure analysis (RCA) to improve design quality and prevent issues.
- Knowledge of FEA tools is an advantage (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
- Familiarity with international & national EHS norms.
- Familiarity with Lean concept i.e. Kaizans, 5S, problem solving tools etc.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of additional languages, such as German or Turkish, would be a significant advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex design challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment, interacting with engineers, suppliers, and clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality in all design work.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to learn new tools and technologies to stay ahead of industry trends.
- Work in a global engineering center with innovative projects and cutting-edge technologies.
- Exposure to a wide range of international design standards and best practices.
- Opportunities for career development and growth in the electrical design field.
- Join a passionate, skilled team of engineers and contribute to the development of high-quality power transformer solutions.
