Job Title: Senior Accountant

Reports To: Managing Director

Job Overview:

The Senior Accounts will oversee the financial management, accounting operations, and compliance functions. This leadership role involves managing a team to ensure accurate reporting, efficient processes, and alignment with business. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of real estate transactions, financial analysis, tax regulations, and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the management team and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the company.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of project costs, revenues, and profitability.
  • Oversee tenant billing, rent collection, and reconciliation processes.
  • Implement cost allocation strategies for development projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of taxes, including corporate tax, VAT/GST, and property-related taxes.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance.
  • Keep updated on changes in tax laws and their implications.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Streamline accounting systems, processes, and software to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reviews to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and finance staff.
  • Assign tasks, set performance goals, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration within the team.
  • Manage relationships with banks, investors, and financial institutions to secure funding or manage loans.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in Finance (MBA) or a related field (preferred).
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience in the real estate sector, including project accounting, property management, and real estate tax implications.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and accounting software.
