Job Title: OT Technician

Department: Operation Theatre (OT)

Reports To: OT Incharge / Medical Superintendent

Job Summary:

The OT Technician is responsible for assisting surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile environment, ensuring availability of instruments and equipment, and adhering to all infection control and safety protocols in the Operation Theatre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Operative Duties:
  • Prepare the OT before surgery – ensure all instruments, sterile drapes, and equipment are ready.
  • Check and ensure functionality of OT lights, suction machines, cautery units, anesthesia machines, and other instruments.
  • Assist in positioning the patient for surgery and ensure all safety measures are followed.
  • Maintain sterile techniques at all times.
  • Intra-Operative Duties:
  • Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other items as required.
  • Handle specimens properly and label them accurately.
  • Ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout the procedure.
  • Monitor and assist in handling of surgical instruments and count verification (before and after surgery).
  • Post-Operative Duties:
  • Dispose of used materials safely as per bio-medical waste management guidelines.
  • Clean and disinfect instruments and OT area after every surgery.
  • Restock supplies and prepare the theatre for the next procedure.
  • Support in shifting patients to the recovery room.
  • Administrative & Safety Responsibilities:
  • Maintain records of instruments, consumables, and sterilization logs.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment immediately.
  • Follow hospital infection control, fire safety, and biomedical waste management policies.
  • Attend OT meetings and training programs regularly.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma / Certificate in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT / COTT)
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setup preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of sterilization and infection control practices.
  • Ability to assist during all types of surgeries.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical instruments.

Working Hours:

  • As per hospital duty roster (Morning / Evening / Night shifts)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15, ₹20,000.00 per month
