Veeva Functional Lead:
Veeva Functional Consultants based out of India typically act as SMEplusBA resources who translate pharma business needs into Veeva CRM/Vault solutions, configure the platform, and support global deployments and enhancements.
Role summary
The Veeva Functional Consultant (Offshore) is responsible for designing and configuring Veeva solutions (e.g., Veeva CRM, Vault, or Network) to support commercial, medical, and compliance processes for life sciences clients, working closely with onshore product owners and business stakeholders. This role combines business analysis, functional design, configuration, and support activities delivered from an offshore location as part of a global delivery model.
Key responsibilities
Work with onshore business and IT stakeholders to understand commercial, medical, and compliance processes and translate them into Veeva functional requirements and user stories.
Lead or support requirements and design workshops, fit/gap analysis, and solution walkthroughs for Veeva CRM/Vault/Network and related Salesforce ecosystem components.
Configure Veeva applications (objects, fields, page layouts, workflows, approvals, call reporting, CLM, events, user profiles, territories, integrations parameters) according to agreed designs and best practices.
Collaborate with technical teams on integrations, data migration, and reporting, ensuring that data models, hierarchies, and workflows align with customer master and downstream analytics needs.
Prepare functional design documents, configuration workbooks, and traceability matrices, maintaining clear documentation for validation and future releases.
Define and execute functional test cases, support system integration testing and UAT, and manage defect triage and resolution related to Veeva features.
Provide Level 2/3 functional support, analyze production issues, propose solutions or workarounds, and collaborate with Veeva or internal technical teams for resolution.
Support release management and change control, including impact assessment of Veeva product upgrades, regression testing, and deployment coordination with onshore leads.
Contribute to Veeva governance, templates, and standards (naming conventions, configuration patterns, documentation) to ensure a scalable multimarket, multifranchise setup.
Mentor junior offshore team members on Veeva functionality, life sciences processes, and project delivery standards as needed.
Required qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of experience as a Functional Consultant, Business Analyst, or CRM specialist in life sciences, with at least 3 years handson in Veeva CRM and/or Veeva Vault (or Network).
- Strong understanding of pharma commercial processes (HCP/HCO master data, targeting and segmentation, call planning, sampling, CLM, consent and compliance, medical interactions).
- Proven experience in Veeva configuration (call reports, accounts, activities, events, territories, workflows), requirements gathering, and functional design on Salesforcebased solutions.
- Experience working in a global/offshore delivery model, collaborating with onshore stakeholders across time zones via remote tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain system behavior to business and technical audiences.
Preferred qualifications
- Veeva certifications (e.g., Veeva CRM Administrator, Veeva Vault Business Admin) and/or Salesforce certifications (Admin, Platform App Builder).
- Experience with Veeva Network or other customer master data management platforms and data governance frameworks.
- Prior work in GxP or promotional compliance environments (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, PDMA requirements) and familiarity with validation and documentation expectations.
- Exposure to integrating Veeva with data warehouses, marketing automation, patient services platforms, and reporting tools.
- Experience mentoring junior consultants and contributing to accelerators, templates, or COE best practices around Veeva.
