The
Deputy Manager – HR
will be responsible for overseeing and streamlining HR operations, ensuring smooth onboarding of new employees, and fostering a culture of engagement and inclusion across the university. The role demands a proactive HR professional capable of implementing best practices, ensuring compliance, and promoting employee well-being and retention through strategic HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
1. HR Operations & Compliance

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations, ensuring adherence to university policies, UGC and statutory norms.
  • Maintain and update employee records in HRMS; ensure data accuracy and timely processing.
  • Oversee HR documentation including offer letters, confirmations, transfers, and exit formalities.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, leave management, and attendance reconciliation in collaboration with accounts.
  • Ensure statutory compliance (EPF, ESI, Gratuity, Professional Tax, etc.) and support audit requirements.

2. Onboarding & Induction

  • Plan and execute a seamless onboarding process for all new hires (academic and non-academic staff).
  • Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with the university's culture, policies, and structure.
  • Partner with department heads to ensure smooth integration of faculty and staff into their respective roles.
  • Develop onboarding checklists, welcome kits, and feedback systems for continuous improvement.

3. Employee Engagement & Culture Building

  • Design and implement employee engagement activities to enhance morale, collaboration, and belongingness.
  • Plan annual engagement calendar covering cultural, social, and academic initiatives.
  • Conduct periodic employee satisfaction and feedback surveys; analyze data to recommend actionable outcomes.
  • Support wellness programs, recognition initiatives, and internal communication drives.
  • Champion university values and work closely with leadership to strengthen organizational culture.

4. Performance & Retention Support

  • Assist in implementation of performance appraisal processes and faculty evaluation systems.
  • Support in identifying high-performing employees for recognition and development opportunities.
  • Partner with HR leadership on retention strategies and grievance handling.

5. HR Reporting & Analytics

  • Generate and maintain HR dashboards, MIS reports, and engagement analytics.
  • Present data-driven insights to management for strategic decision-making.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualification:
    MBA/PGDM in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    8–12 years of experience in HR operations and engagement, preferably in higher education or large service organizations.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and HRMS systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HR software tools.
  • Ability to multitask and handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability.
