Job Purpose:

The Server & Virtual Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's physical and virtual server environments. This role ensures high availability, performance, and compliance of server systems, while coordinating with vendors and internal teams to support infrastructure initiatives and IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Physical Server Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage and administer physical server infrastructure, including
    HPE Synergy enclosures, blade, and rack-mountable servers
    .
  • Handle
    server capacity planning
    and requirements gathering.
  • Oversee
    commissioning and decommissioning
    of server hardware.
  • Conduct
    maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
    to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Coordinate with
    principle vendors
    for
    RMA (Return Material Authorization)
    processes.
  • Manage
    vendor relationships and escalations
    to ensure service quality.
  • Administer servers hosting
    Windows and RHEL operating systems
    .
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of
    storage systems
    and related components.

Virtual Infrastructure Management:

  • Install, configure, and deploy
    virtualization platforms
    such as
    VMware, Nutanix AHV, and Oracle LVM
    on blade and rack servers.
  • Configure and administer
    virtual networks
    using standard and distributed switches.
  • Ensure
    high availability
    of applications and services within the virtual environment.
  • Manage
    clusters, resource pools, templates, and VM deployments
    .
  • Perform
    P2V (Physical to Virtual)
    and
    V2V (Virtual to Virtual)
    migrations.
  • Conduct
    VM resource capacity planning
    and maintain server load balance across clusters and standalone hosts.

Backup & Data Protection:

  • Manage
    virtual environment backups
    using
    Veeam Backup
    and
    Micro Focus Tape Backup
    software.
  • Configure and monitor
    backup jobs
    with daily, weekly, and monthly retention policies.
  • Implement
    proactive monitoring, alerting, and reporting
    using virtualization management tools.

Audit, Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure proactive implementation of
    ISO standards, audit requirements, and compliance controls
    across systems and projects.
  • Maintain documentation for configuration, incident handling, and compliance audits.

Personnel Specifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum
    10 years of experience
    in IT Infrastructure management within a reputed organization.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Professional certifications in
    Virtualization (VMware/Nutanix/Oracle)
    ,
    Backup Solutions
    , or
    Server Hardware Administration
    .

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of
    Windows and RHEL
    operating systems.
  • Proficient in
    server and virtualization management tools
    .
  • Excellent
    analytical, planning, and time management skills
    .

    communication and interpersonal skills
    .
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders effectively.
