Senior Specialist, Strategic Total Reward

The Total Reward CoE is an integral part of our collective drive to bring customers to the centre of everything we do at BT Group.
As a CoE we are turning the page on a new chapter where customer-centric total reward solutions will underpin outstanding business performance and differentiated individual total reward.
As a senior specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading our total reward priorities, and delivering total reward solutions which support both our colleagues and our strategic business aspirations.
While operating at a developed level of conceptual thinking, you will help guide the business through change and risk management, ensuring that total reward practices are future proofed, customer-centric and underpin increased business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- As a primary CoE contact, leads total reward advice, guidance and insight across the business unit(s). Within Group frameworks / policies, accountable for leading the development of customer-centric, data-led total reward solutions which deliver differentiated outcomes for differentiated performance across specific business unit(s) and geographies.
- As a total reward expert, accountable with business unit/Corporate Unit (CU) HR teams for identifying opportunities and delivering solutions to enhance the effectiveness of total reward to drive improved business performance. Accountable for ensuring seamless Reward CoE activities and processes to deliver customer-centric solutions.
- Accountable for driving increased leadership and line manager understanding of the value and impact of total reward adoption and use. Works with HR and CoE teams to leverage opportunities to enable managers to make balanced, consistent and unbiased total reward decisions.
- With CoE colleagues, identifies innovative ways to simplify total reward delivery and drive performance within and across business units through total reward insights.
- Implements and embeds total reward programmes (cyclical and change) across the business, as well as enhancing total reward value as part of the EVP.
Brings external perspectives and ingrains best practice across the business to increase the impact of total reward on organizational performance.
Skills:
- Business partnering (advanced): leads and shapes partnerships with leaders to translate business unit/CU goals into total reward programmes to increase business and individual performance. Knowledgeable in the people drivers of organisational performance and financial levers (e.g. KPIs) and highly skilled at influencing across business leaders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills (expert): demonstrates strong analytical ability to analyze data, can identify root causes of issues, develop effective solutions and make data-driven decisions to optimize the Reward CoE's effectiveness by addressing challenges.
- Change and project delivery (expert): highly proficient in change management techniques to facilitate smooth transition of total reward change to attract, reward, and retain colleagues throughout BT Group.
- Storytelling with data/business insights (expert): strong skills in building the case for total reward change, drawing on data and analytical insights, and communicating through customer centric design.
- Communication (expert): the ability to communicate confidently and with influence across all total reward matters, tailoring your communication style to suit the intended audience.
- Innovation and excellence (expert): Constantly builds knowledge base through internal and external learning exposure, bringing thought leadership to influence business total reward solutions. Demonstrates ability to grow capability of others through knowledge sharing and coaching.
Experience:
Mandatory experience:
- Respected, total reward expert: At least 7 years' experience of leading effective change across all elements of total reward (including recognition) and performance within disruptive business environments.
- Deep technical total reward experience: expertise developed across design to delivery in at least four reward specialist areas (sales incentive plans, base pay design, incentive design (individual, team, group), job evaluation and grading, recognition, benefits, performance management, executive reward, benchmarking) with the ability to embed change through high impact education and learning.
- Agile, trusted business partner: experience of relationship building and influencing stakeholders at all levels within a global organisation across a few different sectors, with at least 15,000 employees.
- Governance and risk management experience: significant experience of managing pension, compensation, and benefit plans with accountability for risk management and reporting, delivering operational improvements to proactively manage people risks.
Demonstrates experience of establishing strong collaborative relationships across HR and the business to deliver significant people change.
