Role & responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for India operations (monthly payroll, full and final settlements, bonuses, incentives, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with Indian statutory laws: Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), Professional Tax (PT), Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), Income Tax (TDS), and other applicable acts.
- Validate payroll inputs (attendance, leaves, new joinees, exits, reimbursements) and ensure data accuracy.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and external vendors for seamless payroll execution.
- Manage and file monthly/quarterly/annual statutory returns (EPF, ESIC, TDS, etc.).
- Respond to employee queries related to salary, tax deductions, payslips, etc.
- Manage audits, including statutory audits and internal compliance checks.
- Prepare monthly payroll reports, dashboards, and MIS for internal stakeholders.
- Drive payroll process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Stay up to date with labour laws, tax regulations, and compliance changes in India.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5–7 years of relevant payroll experience with at least 1–2 years in a payroll lead or senior payroll executive role.
- Hands-on experience with Indian payroll software (e.g., Darwinbox, SAP, Keka, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of Indian statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, PT, TDS, LWF).
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing payroll for 2000+ employees preferred.
