Job Description:

An Urban Night Scene Lighting Designer plans and designs outdoor lighting systems that enhance the aesthetic, functional, and safety aspects of cities at night. They combine artistic vision with technical expertise to illuminate public spaces, landmarks, streets, and landscapes, creating vibrant urban environments while considering energy efficiency, sustainability, and cultural context. This role requires collaboration with architects, city planners, and engineers to shape the nocturnal identity of urban spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design lighting concepts for cityscapes, public spaces, and architectural landmarks.
  • Balance functionality, safety, and aesthetics in night-time environments.
  • Select lighting technologies, fixtures, and control systems with sustainability in mind.
  • Conduct site analysis to determine lighting needs and constraints.
  • Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and municipal authorities.
  • Produce design documents, lighting simulations, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, energy codes, and environmental standards.
  • Supervise installation and evaluate the performance of lighting projects.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of lighting design principles, optics, and visual perception.
  • Proficiency with lighting design software (e.g., Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and smart lighting systems.
  • Creativity in integrating cultural, architectural, and environmental elements into designs.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Degree in lighting design, architecture, urban design, or related field preferred.
