Responsibilities:
Payroll & Compliance
- Facilitates and completes the monthly/quarterly/annual financial close activities including payroll journals and reconciliation.
- Analyzes GL activity to ensure proper classification of payroll related transactions.
- Assists in end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state and international workforce - UK,Mexico,Canada and US.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and labor laws.
- Collaborate with People Ops and Finance to maintain accurate employee data and benefits deductions.
- Oversee 3rd-party preparation and filing of payroll tax returns and ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes.
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis.
- Assist with equity compensation reporting and compliance (e.g., ISO/NSO, ERS).
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline payroll and tax workflows.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and documentation for payroll and tax processes.
- Partner cross-functionally to support business expansion into new states or countries.

Indirect Tax Support
- Monitor and support sales tax, use tax, and other indirect tax obligations across jurisdictions.
- Ensure accurate tax treatment of products and services, especially for SaaS and digital goods.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and software tools (e.g., Avalara, Anrok) to ensure timely filings and remittances.
- Reconcile indirect tax accounts and support month-end close processes.
- Stay current on changes in indirect tax laws and regulations affecting the tech industry.
Desired Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll and tax accounting, preferably in a tech or high-growth environment.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, payroll tax compliance, and indirect tax regulations for UK,Mexico,Canada and US.
- Experience with modern payroll and HRIS platforms (e.g. ADP, Workday).
- Familiarity with indirect tax tools (e.g., Avalara, Anrok) is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort with large datasets and reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
- CPP certification and/or experience with international payroll or tax is a bonus.
