JD for L2 Engineer Routing and Switching

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2 support for routing and switching incidents escalated from L1 engineers.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues including packet drops, latency, routing loops, and switching anomalies.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, etc.).
• Implement and monitor QoS, ACLs, port security, and other L2/L3 policies.
• Perform IOS/software upgrades, patching, and configuration backups.
• Collaborate with L3 teams/vendors for complex escalations and RCA.
• Conduct health checks, performance monitoring, and proactive issue identification.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, topology diagrams, and change records.
• Support implementation of new sites, link migrations, and network expansions.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security and operational standards.

Key Skills Competencies

• Strong knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP) and switching technologies (VLAN, STP, EtherChannel, trunking).
• Hands-on experience in managing Cisco/Juniper/Arista/HPE switches and routers.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Entuity, Nagios, etc.).
• Good understanding of MPLS, SD-WAN, WAN optimization, and redundancy protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in 24x7 environment with on-call/shift support.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Client Essential Qualification Experience: -

(i) Minimum qualification for L1 resources should be B.E / B.Tech. / MCA with 1 year or higher experience in computer networking field and CCNA or equivalent Certified. (or) Graduate in Information Technology/ Computer Science with 3 years or higher experience in computer networking field and CCNA or equivalent Certified.

(ii) Minimum qualification for L2 resources should be B.E / B.Tech. with 3 years or higher experience in computer networking field and CCNP or equivalent Certified (or) Graduate in Information Technology/ Computer Science with 5 years or higher experience in computer networking field and CCNP or equivalent Certified.

(iii) Minimum qualification for Team lead should be B.E / B. Tech. with 6 years or higher experience and CCNP or equivalent Certified. TL should have experience to handle SDN solutions or PMP/PRINCE 2 Certified.
