About the Role:

ValGenesis is seeking an experienced
Director of User Experience (UX)
to lead and develop our team of UX Designers across global product lines. In this player-coach role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, consistent, and user-centered design work while supporting the broader UX strategy led by the VP of UX.

You will work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to drive execution of design deliverables, maintain adherence to the Design System, and support continuous design improvement through research and iteration.

What You'll Do

• Lead & Grow the Design Team
• Mentor and develop a diverse, distributed team of UX Designers
• Foster a culture of design excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
• Set clear goals, track performance, and drive career progression
• Drive End-to-End UX Delivery
• Oversee the full design lifecycle: discovery, wireframing, prototyping, and hand-off
• Enforce high standards of usability, visual polish, and brand consistency
• Balance multiple product streams while maintaining quality and velocity
• Actively Contribute to the Design System
• Evangelize and evolve the ValGenesis Design System
• Collaborate with Design System Leads and Engineering to integrate reusable components
• Ensure all outputs meet WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards
• Partner Across Functions
• Align design roadmaps with Product priorities and business goals
• Work closely with Engineering to guarantee pixel-perfect, performant implementations
• Contribute to UX strategy alongside the VP, translating vision into actionable plans
• Optimize UX Operations
• Introduce and standardize tools and workflows (Figma, Storybook, JIRA)
• Lead regular design reviews, critiques, and retrospectives
• Maintain visibility into design efforts and facilitate cross-team coordination
• Champion User-Centered Research
• Integrate qualitative and quantitative insights into every phase of design
• Support usability testing, customer interviews, and feedback loops
• Enable your team to translate data into impactful design decisions

What We're Looking For

• Required
• 10-12 years in UX design, including 5-7 years managing or leading distributed teams
• Proven track record on complex, enterprise SaaS products
• Hands-on experience in Agile environments
• Expert in Figma (or similar), Storybook, prototyping tools, and accessibility guidelines
• Exceptional communicator, able to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Preferred
• Domain experience in Life Sciences, Healthcare, or FinTech
• Familiarity with GxP, CFR Part 11, or other regulated environments
• Prior ownership or contribution to a Design System
• Scrum or other Agile certifications
