Quality- Civil

Purpose - Why does this role exist?

The Deputy Manager Projects Quality (Civil) is responsible for ensuring quality assurance and control across all civil construction and commissioning activities within the thermal power project. This includes foundations, structures, roads, drains, and other civil infrastructure. The role ensures compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, QAPs, and statutory norms. The incumbent will coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure defect-free execution and readiness for commissioning.

Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators)

Civil Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with QAPs, ITPs, and technical specifications for all civil works including turbine foundations, control buildings, cooling towers, and switchyards.

Material Testing & Verification

• Supervise field and lab testing of concrete, aggregates, soil, and steel as per IS/ASTM standards.

Drawing & Specification Compliance

• Verify execution against approved construction drawings and technical specifications.

Inspection & NCR Management

• Conduct site inspections, raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and ensure timely corrective actions.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain quality records, test reports, inspection logs, and support commissioning documentation.

Statutory & Environmental Compliance

• Ensure adherence to Factory Act, Pollution Control Board norms, and other statutory requirements.

Audit & Review

• Support internal and external audits and ensure closure of audit findings related to civil quality.

Educational Background and Work Experience

• Educational Background:
  
  Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

• Work Experience:
  
  Minimum 10 to15 years of experience in civil quality assurance for large-scale thermal power projects (preferably above 500 MW units), with hands-on exposure to commissioning phase activities.

Skills Required

• Expertise in civil construction quality protocols
• Familiarity with IS codes, ASTM standards, and QAPs
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and quality documentation tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of statutory codes: Factory Act, PCB norms
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities
