Job Title: Head of Technology Consulting – Banking & Financial Services
Location: Mumbai/Chennai
Reporting to: Head of Consulting
Role Overview
We are seeking a Head of Technology Consulting to lead advisory engagements with
banks and financial institutions, guiding them through enterprise-wide transformation —
from their current to future state architecture.
This leader will help banks modernize their technology landscape, hollow the core, and
build resilient, cloud-native, data-driven, and AI-enabled ecosystems.
The ideal candidate combines deep banking domain knowledge (spanning both retail and
corporate banking) with proven expertise in enterprise architecture, modernization
strategy, cloud, data, and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Technology Advisory
Engage with bank CXOs and CIOs to define their technology vision,
modernization roadmap, and future-state architecture.
Lead current-to-future state assessments across core banking, payments,
channels, lending, and trade, treasury, and data ecosystems.
Define and drive "hollow the core" strategies—decoupling legacy systems and
enabling composable, API-led architectures.
Shape enterprise blueprints that align technology, business, and data strategies
to enable agility, scalability, and faster time-to-market.
2. Banking Transformation Leadership
Design and oversee transformation programs across retail and corporate
banking—covering core modernization, digital enablement, and intelligent
automation.
Evaluate legacy technology estates and propose modernization paths including
core replacement, cloud migration, or integration overlays.
Align technology initiatives with business growth priorities, regulatory
compliance, and operational resilience.
3. Cloud, Data & AI Strategy
Define multi-cloud and hybrid cloud adoption frameworks addressing data
residency, security, and performance.
Develop data modernization strategies—covering data lake design, governance,
and real-time analytics enablement.
Build AI/ML enablement frameworks to help banks leverage data-driven
intelligence across operations, risk, and customer experience.
Identify and drive AI use cases such as predictive risk modeling, payment
investigation, fraud detection, customer analytics, and generative AI–powered
automation.
Guide banks in building resilient, adaptive architectures that ensure continuity,
compliance, and performance across platforms.
4. Ecosystem & Partnership Enablement
Help banks leverage fintech, hyperscale, and ecosystem partnerships to
accelerate transformation.
Shape open banking, API monetization, and platform integration strategies.
Collaborate with cloud and technology partners to co-create innovative digital
solutions and joint go-to-market initiatives.
- Practice Development & Leadership
Build and mentor a high-performing consulting team of enterprise architects and
transformation specialists.
Develop banking technology playbooks, transformation frameworks, and maturity
models.
Drive thought leadership through whitepapers, client forums, and industry
conferences.
Represent the firm as a trusted advisor and industry thought leader in banking
technology transformation.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
15+ years in banking technology, enterprise architecture, or consulting, with
significant exposure to retail and corporate banking.
Deep understanding of core banking systems, digital channels, payments,
lending, trade, treasury, and cash management.
Proven experience in designing and leading large-scale transformation and
modernization programs.
Expertise in modern architecture paradigms — microservices, APIs, event-driven
design, containerization, and cloud-native platforms.
Hands-on experience in cloud strategy, resilience design, and data platform
modernization.
Understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application in banking — including
automation, personalization, and decision intelligence.
Strong ability to engage, influence, and build trust with CXO-level stakeholders.
Desirable:
Exposure to Islamic banking and regional regulatory frameworks (e.g., Middle East,
Africa, or Asia).
Experience with hyperscaler ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data/AI platform
integration.
Prior consulting experience with Big 4, large SIs, or specialized banking
technology firms.
Demonstrated thought leadership in AI, cloud, or digital transformation for banking.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
Certifications in Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF), Cloud Architecture (AWS,
Azure, or GCP), or AI/ML are desirable.
Personal Attributes
Strategic thinker with a passion for technology-led banking transformation.
Deep domain understanding with the ability to connect business, data, and
technology strategies.
Strong communicator and storyteller who can simplify complex concepts for CXO
audiences.
Visionary leader who inspires teams and clients to embrace innovation, AI, and
ecosystem thinking.
Collaborative, adaptable, and driven to make measurable client impact.
