Contract Management & Drafting
Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, MoUs, NDAs, and other legal documents.
Ensure all contracts comply with statutory requirements and company policies.
Maintain a central repository of executed agreements.
Regulatory Compliance
Monitor compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations (Labour Laws, Companies Act, Factories Act, etc.).
Ensure timely filing of statutory returns, licenses, and registrations.
Update management on changes in laws affecting the company.
Litigation & Dispute Management
Coordinate with external lawyers for pending litigations and arbitrations
Prepare case briefs, affidavits, and legal responses.
Represent company interests in legal proceedings, where required.
Advisory & Risk Mitigation
Provide legal advice to management and departments on operational matters.
Identify potential legal risks and suggest preventive measures.
Assist in drafting company policies to ensure legal soundness.
Documentation & Records
Maintain updated records of legal cases, contracts, licenses, and compliance certificates.
Ensure safe custody of company's legal documents (title deeds, property papers, etc.).
Liaison & Coordination
Liaise with government authorities, regulators, and statutory bodies.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders for legal inputs in business decisions.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare periodic reports on litigations, compliance status, and risk assessments.
Share MIS with senior management on legal matters.
Measurable KPIs could include:
% of contracts vetted within defined timelines.
Number of compliance defaults/violations (should be zero).
Timely filing of statutory returns and licenses.
Success ratio in litigation or dispute resolutions.
Reduction in legal risks through proactive measures.
