About the role

The Team Leader – Underground plays a critical role in leading underground blasting operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of bulk explosives. This position works closely with MMU Operators, Bench Assistants, Shotfirers, and the Site Supervisor to execute blasting activities in full compliance with site-specific protocols, Indian mining regulations, and environmental standards.

What you will be doing

• Lead daily underground blasting operations, including loading and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure full compliance with safety protocols; promptly report incidents and near misses.
• Facilitate daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
• Maintain accurate training records per Orica's training matrix and site-specific standards.
• Ensure emergency response equipment and first aid kits are complete and accessible.
• Support audits and close out actions related to SHES and operational compliance.
• Promote environmental responsibility by minimizing waste and handling materials per MSDS guidelines.
• Uphold high housekeeping standards across all operational areas.
• Alert site management to any deviations in product specifications or performance.
• Collaborate with clients to achieve production targets and meet operational KPIs.

What you will bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in underground mining operations.
• Proven ability to lead teams in high-risk, safety-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of blasting techniques and safe handling of explosives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate across diverse teams.
• Results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of Indian mining regulations and safety standards is highly desirable.

Your qualifications
