Job Details: We are seeking an experienced LMS Architect to lead the design, development, and optimization of Moodle-based learning platforms. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in Moodle and its various distributions (Moodle, Moodle Workplace, Totara, OpenLMS, etc.), along with strong experience in system architecture, integrations, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and design scalable, high-performance Moodle-based solutions tailored to client requirements.
  • Lead platform customization and development for Moodle LMS, including plugins, themes, and integrations.
  • Evaluate and implement various Moodle distributions (Moodle Workplace, Totara, OpenLMS, etc.) based on project needs.
  • Ensure security, scalability, and performance optimization of Moodle instances.
  • Develop and manage integrations with third-party applications (SSO, HRMS, CRM, content providers, etc.).
  • Guide and mentor development teams in best practices for Moodle development and architecture.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Stay updated on Moodle advancements and propose innovative solutions for system improvements.
  • Support deployment and infrastructure management on cloud/on-premise environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).

Must Have Skills/Competencies:

  • Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum 13 years of experience in Moodle LMS architecture and development.
  • Expertise in Moodle core architecture, plugin development, and customization.
  • Strong experience with Moodle Workplace, Totara, OpenLMS, or other Moodle-based platforms.
  • Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Moodle's API.
  • Experience with SSO, LTI, SCORM, xAPI, and other learning technology standards.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud hosting and DevOps practices for Moodle.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in LMS environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, D2L), cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), and integration standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI).
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess technical and business challenges and translate them into practical solutions.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and internal teams.

Nice to Have Skills/Competencies:

  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, ).
  • Experience with the latest technologies in EdTEch (AI / ML use cases with LMS, LXP) would be highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and reporting within Moodle LMS.
    • Moodle/Totara certifications are a plus.
