About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead PostgreSQL DBA to define strategy, ensure database

reliability, and drive performance improvements for mission-critical systems. This role involves

designing scalable database solutions, managing a team of DBAs, and ensuring data integrity

and availability in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of PostgreSQL DBAs, setting standards and best practices.
  • Architect, design, and optimize large-scale PostgreSQL clusters, ensuring high

availability and resilience.

  • Oversee capacity planning, provisioning, performance tuning, and database lifecycle

management.

  • Review schema designs, indexing strategies, partitioning, and query patterns for optimal

performance.

  • Manage backup and recovery strategies, replication, PITR, and disaster recovery

planning.

  • Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting and programming tools.
  • Collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
  • Stay current on new PostgreSQL versions and features, and recommend improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7-8 years of DBA experience, including 2+ years in a lead capacity.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL 12+, including replication, clustering, sharding, partitioning.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, resource tuning, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
  • Experience with backup/recovery tools, logical/physical replication, and HA setups.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms or containerized deployments is an advantage.
