Job Description – Mid-Level OS & VM Engineer (Networking)

Edge and Cloud (ENC), founded in 2018, is a startup based in India, operating within the Telecom sector. ENC's strategic focus lies in Mobile Telecom and IoT (Internet of Things) technology. Specifically, ENC aims to serve Telecom Operators in India, positioning themselves as enablers for these operators to cater to their Enterprise IoT customers effectively. This alignment capitalizes on the exponential growth witnessed in Telco-led IoT services serving Enterprise IoT segments such as Point of Sales Terminals, Connected Cars, and Connected utilities.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Operating Systems (OS) and Virtualization (VM) Engineer
with good expertise in
networking
to join our team to support the design, deployment, and maintenance of our virtualization platforms and enterprise operating systems. This role will involve hands-on administration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization in both OS and virtualized environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage
    Windows and Linux servers
    in virtual and physical environments.
  • Support virtualization platforms such as
    VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, or KVM
    .
  • Configure and troubleshoot
    VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and routing in virtual networks
    .
  • Manage resource allocation (CPU, memory, storage) for VMs and optimize system performance.
  • Assist in network and OS security hardening.
  • Automate daily tasks using
    PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible
    .
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system upgrades, patching, and network integration.
  • Document standard operating procedures and maintain system logs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience
    in OS and virtualization administration.
  • Good knowledge of
    VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
    .
  • Proficiency with
    Windows Server OS and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu)
    .
  • Solid understanding of
    TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs
    .
  • Exposure to
    cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    .
  • Strong troubleshooting skills at OS, VM, and network levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware VCP or Microsoft Hyper-V certification.
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification.
  • Familiarity with
    storage networking (SAN, NAS, iSCSI)
    .
  • Exposure to
    containers (Docker/Kubernetes)
    .
