Reports To: Merchandising Manager

Job Summary

The Merchandiser is responsible for managing end-to-end merchandising activities for woven garments, from product development to shipment. The role ensures timely execution of orders, compliance with buyer requirements, cost control, and coordination with cross-functional teams to deliver quality products within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Sampling

  • Coordinate with buyers on woven garment developments (shirts)
  • Develop samples as per buyer specifications, tech packs, and timelines.
  • Liaise with design, sampling, and technical teams for fit, fabric, and construction approvals.

Buyer Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for buyers regarding woven programs.
  • Communicate order status, approvals, delays, and corrective actions proactively.
  • Handle buyer comments, revisions, and approvals efficiently.

Order Management

  • Manage the entire order lifecycle from order confirmation to final shipment.
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of buyer requirements (fabric, trims, measurements, packing).
  • Monitor T&A calendars to ensure on-time execution.

Sourcing & Costing

  • Coordinate fabric and trim sourcing for woven materials.
  • Prepare and negotiate cost sheets to meet target prices.
  • Ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality and compliance.

Production Coordination

  • Work closely with production, planning, and QA teams to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Monitor fabric booking, trims availability, and production readiness.
  • Track daily/weekly production status and resolve bottlenecks.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet buyer quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate lab testing, inspections, and certifications as required.
  • Address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Shipment & Documentation

  • Coordinate with logistics and documentation teams for timely shipments.
  • Ensure correct packing, labeling, and shipment documentation.
  • Support timely dispatch and follow up on post-shipment issues.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of woven fabrics, garment construction, and finishes.
  • Understanding of merchandising calendars and critical paths.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong follow-up and coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple styles/orders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Technology, Textile Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in woven apparel merchandising (export).
  • Experience handling international buyers (US/EU/UK markets preferred).
