Job Description:

What will you do?

  • We are looking for an exceptional and technically astute leader to establish and scale a global engineering center in Bangalore, with end-to-end ownership for the development of edge control and sensing platforms used in smart, sustainable commercial buildings.

    This leadership role requires deep expertise in embedded hardware and software development, a strong understanding of building automation systems, and a proven track record in building and managing high performing global engineering teams. The scope spans designing, developing, and validating Distributed Digital Controllers (DDCs), environmental sensors, HVAC edge controllers, and mechanical systems—all integrated into the EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) platform

  • Build and Scale Bangalore R&D Hub
  • Set up and grow a world-class, multi-disciplinary engineering center covering:
  • Hardware design (digital, analog, and mixed-signal)
  • Embedded firmware (RTOS, bare metal, and modern languages)
  • Mechanical design
  • Edge software (Linux-based containers, DevOps pipelines, Rust/C++)
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop technical leaders and engineering teams
  • Drive engineering excellence with a strong focus on innovation, ownership, and delivery
  • Technical ExperKse
  • In-depth knowledge of:o Embedded systems architecture (ARM-based MCUs, RTOS, memory management, low power design)

    o Firmware development in C/C++, and emerging use of Rust

    o Linux platforms, containerization (Docker, OCI), and CI/CD workflows

    o Communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, Ethernet)

    o Sensor design, analog interfaces, and environmental control systems

    o Edge-to-cloud integration models and secure OTA updates
  • Leadership and Collaboration
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams in a globalenvironment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to operate across executive, technical, and customer facing teams.
  • Experience collaborating across time zones and cultures to deliver cohesive, scalable solutions.Strategic and Business Acumen
  • Clear understanding of market drivers, business priorities, and customer use cases in the commercial building segment
  • Ability to translate technical architecture into product roadmaps and execution plans
  • Familiarity with agile-at-scale frameworks, product portfolio management, and product lifecycle KPIs.

  • Lead the evolution of our BMS platforms
  • Implement containerized edge compute frameworks on Linux
  • Design modular systems that integrate seamlessly from device to cloud
  • Contribute to system architecture and interface specifications across the product portfolio
  • Global Collaboration and Alignment
  • Act as a key member of the global R&D leadership team
  • Collaborate daily with teams in Sweden, USA, and Canada on architecture, standards, integration and product releases
  • Ensure platform consistency, reuse, and alignment with global business priorities and customerrequirements.
  • Drive Innovation and Engineering Rigor
  • Foster a strong culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Promote best practices in agile development, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and design for reliability and manufacturability (DFR/DFM).
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in edge computing, BMS, IoT security, AI/ML at the edge, and cloud integration
  • Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Define and execute the R&D strategy for the India center in alignment with global product roadmaps
  • Own engineering KPIs: delivery velocity, product quality, talent development, and cost optmization
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and vendor partnerships.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or

Computer Science from a recognized institution.
- Experience

years in engineering leadership, with at least 10 years leading multi-domain global R&D teams.
- Strong background in building automation, HVAC control systems, industrial IoT devices, or relatedfields.

- Proven success in leading full-lifecycle product development from hardware to software to cloud.
