Position Summary 

Harness is seeking an exceptional engineering leader to drive our Product Platform portfolio within the Platform Engineering Organization. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee mission-critical services including Identity and Access Management, Auditing, Notifications, Secrets Management, and core libraries and frameworks that power our platform. 

We're looking for a visionary leader who thrives on building world-class engineering teams and foundational backend services that empower both internal developers and external customers. The ideal candidate brings high energy, startup passion, and proven expertise in leading distributed teams through complex technical challenges while delivering measurable business outcomes.

About the role

• Take end-to-end ownership of the technology stack, driving architecture, development, deployment, reliability, and ongoing operations
• Provide strategic technical and organizational guidance to drive engineering excellence across teams
• Shape and execute the long-term technical vision and roadmap for your organization
• Continuously adapt roadmaps to align with anticipated future demands and evolving business requirements
• Recruit and develop exceptional technical and people leaders to build a world-class engineering organization

About you

• 15+ years of engineering experience, including 10+ years in people leadership roles leading high-performing platform engineering teams
• Strong hands-on technical background in platform services development and backend engineering - a builder at heart with deep technical credibility
• Strong implementation knowledge of APIs, IAM, Audit, and Secrets architectures and frameworks
• Proven ability to scale organizations and develop strong technical and people leaders
• Experience working with globally distributed teams and customers across time zones
• Demonstrated track record of improving customer satisfaction through platform solutions
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, manage complexity, and keep projects on track
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
