Job Description Procurement Manager (Logistics / Supply Chain)

Department: Supply Chain Management

Location: Bangalore

Reporting To: Head – Procurement & Supply Chain Management

Job Summary

The Procurement Manager – Logistics is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement and vendor management process for logistics operations. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and onboarding logistics partners, driving cost optimization without compromising service quality, ensuring seamless contract execution, and supporting business objectives through data-driven, decision-making and strong stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Possess strong understanding of supply chain operations, particularly in transportation, warehousing, and distribution logistics.
  • Demonstrate deep industry knowledge and awareness of logistics best practices, trends, and innovations.
  • Handle the complete procurement cycle for logistics partners — from vendor identification to final selection and contract execution.
  • Prepare and manage RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes in alignment with business needs.
  • Evaluate logistics service providers (3PLs, transporters, courier partners, etc.) based on capability, performance, cost, and service quality.
  • Conduct comparative analysis for vendor proposals and ensure alignment with commercial and operational goals.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with vendors to achieve best-in-class pricing and terms.
  • Perform detailed cost comparison and analysis for logistics services.
  • Work at order-level costing to ensure accurate budgeting and cost allocation.
  • Prepare monthly provisions and reconcile actual cost workings with forecasts.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining required service levels and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate and execute logistics service agreements, NDAs, and SLAs in collaboration with the legal and finance teams.
  • Manage the PR–PO cycle efficiently to ensure smooth procurement operations and timely vendor payments.
  • Maintain updated records of all logistics vendors, performance metrics, and contract details.
  • Develop dashboards and analytical reports for vendor performance, cost trends, and procurement KPIs.
  • Monitor logistics-related P&L, identify cost deviations, and implement corrective measures.
  • Work closely with operations, finance, and business teams to align logistics procurement strategies with business goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
  • Key Skills and Competencies
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, and dashboard creation.
  • Sound understanding of RFI/RFP/RFQ processes.
  • Attention to detail with strong vendor management discipline.
  • Knowledge of logistics operations, freight models, and cost drivers.
  • Understanding of logistics industry best practices and benchmarking standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Qualification & Experience

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration (MBA preferred).

Experience: 4–6 years in Procurement / Supply Chain with strong exposure to Logistics sourcing and vendor management.
