Assistant General Manager

JOB PURPOSETo assist Head ARFF in implementing and maintaining uninterrupted level of protection to the airport and to ensure fire prevention and fire life safety as per regulatory requirements (ICAO Doc Annex 14, 9137 part 1, part 7, part 8, DGCA CARs, NBC, etc.). Compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations. Successful in maintaining the proficiency of aircraft rescue and firefighting service.

Results of internal and external audits. Upkeep of good physical standards as required for various cadres in BIAL ARFF and maintaining good discipline. Management of accidents/incidents and efforts to reduce the same from fire safety angle.

Adopt excellent fire prevention and fire life safety methods within airport premises. Excellent coordination with state/civil/military fire departments for mutual aid scheme. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESAircraft rescue and firefighting operations:ARFF operations, training, fire prevention, maintained as per the time promulgated and directly responsible to Head ARFF.Looking after day-to-day operations and administrative matters of the department and to brief Head ARFF.Inspect CFT's, other equipment and vehicles to ensure continuous serviceability.

Management of departmental stores and inventory. Conduct mock drills, surprise drills etc. to ensure adequate response from all agencies. Maintain standards as per CAR and submit monthly hot fire drill reports.

Ensure adequate resources and manpower available round the clock as per airport certified category. Airport fire prevention:Ensure that fire prevention wing of ARFF performs as per regulatory mandates. Periodical trainings imparted to entire airport staff on fire prevention and basic firefighting training as per statutory guidelines.

Arrange inspection of fixed firefighting and fire alarm systems. Adequate prevention methods employed for prevention of general fire incidents. Conduct of periodic fire audits.

ARFF training and continuing proficiency:Ensure all the cadres are adequately trained from ICAO approved training centers and are periodically refreshed as per the cadre. Organize internal and external trainings for ARFF.Periodical familiarization training of fire crew with aircraft, terminal building and other buildings, adjacent areas, with special training to airport topography. Ensure periodic vehicle driving and operation capability of various cadres at optimum, arrange for additional training wherever necessary.

ARFF Documentation:Oversee and manage the ARFF administration. Preparation of duty roster and allotment of various duties to the personnel placed below. Preparation of monthly reports and submission.

Ensure upkeep of all records of drills, training conducted and proper upkeep of all log books, occurrence books etc. ARFF general administration:Management of departmental stores. Ensure that adequate reserve stock maintained.

Ensuring discipline and order and welfare of all personnel. Leave management and ensure manpower availability. Conduct Fire/life Safety Campaigns & seminars in consultation with Head ARFF.Fire safety Audits and compliance:Periodically audit building and premises within airport area from fire life safety.

In coordination with BCM organize and practice building evacuation as per regulation. Ensure compliance of fire life safety observation/noncompliance if any. Brief Head ARFF on all above aspects.

MAJOR CHALLENGESEnsure operational readiness of ARFF at all times. Maintaining discipline and cordial atmosphere in the department. Inculcating a best fire and life safety practice amongst all airport partners.

Preparing for second runway requirements. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Educational Qualifications:Graduate/Post graduate degree preferably in Science or BE (Fire Engineering) from NFSC (Nagpur). Formal Basic Firefighting training/certification from ICAO recognized institute.

Airport Fire Officer or Senior Fire Officer Course from ICAO recognized training institute. Possess GIFireE or MIFireE qualification with Aviation Fire safety as specialized elective subject. Valid driving license and driving skills in Crash Fire Tender are preferred.

Relevant and total years of Experience/Age:10-15 years of experience in aviation industry preferably in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting. A thorough knowledge of ARFF procedures/ICAO documents/DGCA CARs. Ability to use computers for routine duties without dependency.

Fluency in written and oral communication in English. Fully medically fit without any physical deformity. No past medical disability.

Age between 35 to 50 years, relaxable by two years in exceptional cases.
