Responsibilities

  • An Informatica Test Engineer's responsibilities generally include:Requirements analysis:
  • Understanding the functional requirements for data migration and integration projects, and performing traceability and gap analysis.
  • Test planning and strategy: Defining the overall test strategy, designing test plans, and creating detailed test cases and scripts based on functional and technical specifications.
  • Test data management: Validating and manipulating test data to meet specific testing requirements.
  • Test execution: Executing manual or automated test cases to validate the ETL process.
  • This includes verifying data integrity, accuracy, and completeness.Regression testing: Implementing and executing regression test suites to ensure that new code or changes do not negatively impact existing functionality.
  • Defect management: Diagnosing problems, reporting defects with clear and detailed documentation, and tracking them through resolution.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and data architects, to understand data flows and resolve issues.
  • Reporting: Communicating test progress, issues, and risks to project stakeholders.
  • 8+ ETL expertise: Solid experience and a deep understanding of ETL concepts and data warehousing principles.
  • 5+ Informatica proficiency: Hands-on experience with Informatica tools, such as PowerCenter, Informatica Cloud (IICS), or Informatica Data Quality (IDQ).5+ Strong SQL skills: Ability to write and debug complex SQL queries for data validation and extraction.
  • 2+ Programming/scripting: Experience with scripting languages like Python is often required for test automation.
