Job Description: Commis Chef – Indian Cuisine

Position: Commis Chef

Department: Kitchen – Indian Cuisine

Reports to: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef / Executive Chef

Location: Rajpura, Punjab

Role Summary

The Commis Chef (Indian Cuisine) assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Indian dishes under the guidance of senior chefs. The role ensures consistency, hygiene, and high-quality food production as per kitchen standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for various Indian dishes (gravy, masala, tandoor prep, vegetables, meats, breads).
  • Support in cooking curries, gravies, vegetables, snacks, and tandoor items as guided by the chef.
  • Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
  • Prepare mise-en-place for daily operations.

Kitchen Operations

  • Ensure all food items are prepared on time during service.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation standards as per FSSAI guidelines.
  • Handle kitchen equipment safely and report any faults immediately.
  • Store food correctly to avoid spoilage; follow FIFO and HACCP standards.

Quality & Consistency

  • Ensure taste, texture, and appearance of all Indian dishes meet company standards.
  • Assist in maintaining stock levels and inform seniors about shortages.
  • Support in minimizing wastage and maintaining cost control.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with the Chef de Partie and other team members.
  • Follow instructions accurately and support during peak hours.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.

Requirements Education & Experience

  • Basic culinary training or diploma preferred.
  • Minimum 0–2 years of experience in Indian cuisine (restaurant/hotel/cloud kitchen).
  • Knowledge of North Indian cuisine; knowledge of South Indian cuisine is a plus.

Skills

  • Basic cooking skills and understanding of Indian gravies, spices, and cooking methods.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good hygiene practices and kitchen discipline.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fresher

Pay: ₹12, ₹25,000.00 per month
