Overview The Japanese Translator plays a crucial role within our organization by bridging communication gaps between Japanese and English speakers. This position is fundamental in ensuring that all documents, verbal communications, and interactions are accurately translated and culturally adapted. The translator is responsible for delivering high-quality translations while remaining sensitive to the nuances of both languages, which are essential for maintaining our company's global standards. Beyond purely translating text, this role involves localizing content to fit specific cultural contexts, enhancing the effectiveness of our communications in the Japanese market. As businesses increasingly expand into international territories, the need for skilled language professionals becomes critical. By facilitating clear communication and understanding, the Japanese Translator helps build relationships with partners, clients, and stakeholders in Japan, thus contributing to the overall success and expansion of our organization. Key Responsibilities
  • Translate written documents from Japanese to English and vice versa.
  • Ensure the accuracy and readability of translations.
  • Localize marketing materials, websites, and product content.
  • Proofread and edit translations for clarity and coherence.
  • Conduct research to clarify terminology and concepts.
  • Collaborate with other translators and team members on projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Participate in meetings to provide interpretation as needed.
  • Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends in translation and localization.
  • Utilize translation software and tools to enhance productivity.
  • Provide feedback on linguistic and cultural aspects of translations.
  • Assist in developing language glossaries for consistency.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes in translation.
  • Train and mentor junior translators or interns.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and spoken.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in translation or a similar role.
  • Proven ability to translate various types of documents.
  • Strong understanding of Japanese culture and business etiquette.
  • Experience with CAT tools and translation software.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in both languages.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
  • Adaptability to different subjects and themes in translation.
  • Certification in Japanese translation is a plus.
  • Experience in technical translation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of localization processes and tools.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
