CROSSED HEARTS is a publishing house dedicated to adapting Korean webcomics and Japanese manga into English. We cater to graphic novel enthusiasts in English-speaking markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Indian subcontinent. With over 20 series currently in pipeline for launch by 2027, we are seeking a global partner to facilitate the digital and physical distribution of our titles, ensuring their presence in retail stores worldwide. Our inaugural collection is slated for a global release in the third quarter of 2025. At CROSSED HEARTS, our mission is to bridge cultural divides by introducing exceptional Korean and Japanese works to English-speaking audiences, solidifying our position as a global leader in graphic literatureWe have a global presence and are currently expanding the team and looking for talented individuals to join our fast-growing team in Bangalore (Hybrid/On-Site).

Role Overview:

As a Japanese Manga Translator, you'll be responsible for translating original Japanese manga editions into high-quality, culturally sensitive English. You will help maintain the author's tone, humor, and emotional impact while ensuring the English version resonates with readers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate manga scripts and dialogue from Japanese to English.
  • Collaborate with editors to ensure tone, context, and cultural nuances are preserved.
  • Review and revise existing translations for quality improvement.
  • Research idioms, references, and cultural expressions to enhance localization.
  • Work closely with the production team to meet tight publishing deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Japanese language with JLPT N2 or N3 certification.
  • Exceptional grasp of written English, grammar, and cultural fluency.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in manga, anime, light novel, or book translation.
  • Background in creative writing or localization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet publication timelines.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30, ₹35,000.00 per month
