System Administrator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System/Server Administrator with 4-7 years of expertise in Windows, Linux, and VMware Server administration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing server infrastructure, performing server migrations, monitoring server components, conducting regular patching activities, and managing storage systems. This role requires a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working in a shift rotation as part of our 24x7 service operation.
• Server Administration: Administer and maintain Windows, Linux, and VMware servers to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Server Migration: Plan and execute server migrations with minimal downtime, ensuring data integrity and system reliability throughout the process.
• Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitor server components, including hardware, software, and network interfaces, to detect and resolve issues promptly. Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure system stability and performance.
• Patching and Updates: Conduct regular patching activities to maintain server security and compliance with industry standards. Ensure all servers are up-to-date with the latest security patches and software updates.
• Storage Management: Administer and maintain storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and DAS. Monitor storage performance and capacity, and perform regular backups and recovery tests to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve server and storage-related issues, including hardware failures, software conflicts, and network problems. Provide timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime and disruption.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of server and storage configurations, procedures, and changes. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant team members.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members, including network administrators, database administrators, and application developers, to implement and manage server and storage infrastructure. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to support business objectives.
• Security: Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect server and storage infrastructure from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability in the event of a disaster or system failure. Perform regular backup tests to verify the effectiveness of recovery procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 4-7 years of experience in Windows, Linux, and VMware Server administration.
• Proven experience in server migration, monitoring, patching, and storage management.
• Strong understanding of server and storage hardware and software components.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, VMware Certified Professional) are a plus.

Education:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
