Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 Services Engineer (SDE3) specializing in Ab Initio and Data Engineering to join our dynamic engineering team. This role focuses on delivering scalable and secure data solutions that power critical credit card platforms serving a diverse customer base.

As a key member of a self-organized engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting high-performance data solutions using Ab Initio, SQL, and related technologies. You will play a pivotal role in mentoring team members, driving engineering best practices, and ensuring delivery excellence across the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality data processing applications using Ab Initio GDE, Unix/Linux scripting, and SQL.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of significant components and services within the platform.
  • Apply strong debugging and troubleshooting skills to support production and resolve complex issues.
  • Drive best practices in data engineering, security, performance optimization, and code quality.
  • Review and provide feedback on code developed by peers to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuously improve team delivery throughput by identifying and eliminating inefficiencies.
  • Estimate development efforts and timelines effectively with justifiable rationale.
  • Participate in CI/CD processes using Jenkins pipelines and other automation tools.
  • Actively promote reusability and inner-sourcing across engineering teams to reduce redundancy and increase innovation.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions using Ab Initio.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in SQL, Unix/Linux shell scripting, and data transformation workflows.
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and architect effective data solutions.
  • Proficiency in debugging and resolving performance and data quality issues in data pipelines.
  • Leadership experience in Agile development environments, including mentoring and code reviews.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, especially using tools like Jenkins.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Desirable / Advantageous Skills:

  • Experience with AWS services, including S3 and Lambda, or similar cloud-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with Lambda programming and serverless data processing.
  • Experience in regulated environments such as banking, finance, or insurance.
  • Prior experience with pair programming, TDD, or other XP (Extreme Programming) practices.
