How You Will Contribute
Reporting to the VP, GM- APJI Sales, you as VP- regional sales for India will lead the India Sales team with cross-functional responsibility to set, drive, and execute the sales strategy in this high-impact, strategic role. You will play a key leadership role in building a high-performance team and collaborating across functions to drive sustainable growth in the India market.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead the India Sales region, managing a direct team of 15-20 sales professionals and coordinating ~60 GTM resources including engineering, services, and business partners.
  • Set the vision and strategy for India sales, aligning teams and driving results while owning customer engagement from the 'C' level down.
  • Serve as a critical member of the APJI Leadership Team and India Country Leadership Team, championing cross-functional collaboration across Ciena's India population.
  • Own and influence broad, complex customer and stakeholder engagements including market, government, and industry interactions.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans to meet or exceed order, revenue, and margin targets, ensuring compliance with governance and Ciena's code of conduct.

The Must Haves

  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and leading highly engaged sales teams, including managing experienced managers.
  • Strong expertise in developing and executing sales strategies to grow market share in complex, competitive environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining executive-level customer relationships across telecommunications or related industries.
  • Background in selling complex services and strong knowledge of Optical, Ethernet/IP networking technologies and services.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product management, R&D, supply chain, finance, marketing, and partner teams.

  • Deep understanding of the telecommunications industry ecosystem including government and regulatory environments.
  • Strong skills in change management, innovation leadership, and driving diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to various organizational levels.
