A collections officer is responsible for recovering overdue payments and delinquent accounts from customers or clients on behalf of a company. Key duties include contacting debtors, negotiating payment plans, maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing collection reports, and collaborating with legal and accounting teams to ensure timely payment and maintain the company's financial health. Success in this role requires strong communication, negotiation skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of relevant laws and regulations.

  • Contacting Debtors: Reach out to customers by phone or other channels to discuss overdue payments.
  • Negotiate Payment Plans: Work with debtors to establish realistic and achievable repayment schedules and negotiate settlement terms.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communication, transactions, and payment plans.
  • Account Monitoring: Regularly monitor client accounts to identify and track outstanding debts and potential defaults.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on the status of outstanding debts and collection efforts for management.
  • Dispute Resolution: Resolve billing and payment discrepancies with customers to facilitate payment.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, such as accounting, legal, and customer service, to ensure a unified and effective debt collection strategy.
  • Legal Action Coordination: If necessary, work with legal professionals to initiate legal action against persistent defaulters.
  • Compliance: Stay informed and ensure all collection activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Job Type: Full-time
