TCS Greeting About the Role:We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Cognos Architect with 5-8 years of deep expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining the architectural blueprint for our Cognos environment, guiding the development team, and ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and performant reporting and analytics solutions.

A key aspect of this role involves understanding existing Tableau reports and strategically architecting their equivalent and enhanced functionality within Cognos. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a hands-on approach, capable of building foundational frameworks and jobs that the broader team can effectively utilize. Responsibilities:Cognos Architecture & Design: Define and maintain the overall architecture of the Cognos Analytics environment, including data modeling strategies, security frameworks, deployment methodologies, and performance optimization techniques.

Tableau to Cognos Migration: Analyze existing Tableau reports and dashboards to understand their underlying logic, data sources, and visualizations, and architect effective and potentially enhanced solutions within the Cognos ecosystem. Framework & Job Development: Lead the design and hands-on development of generic and reusable Framework Manager models (or Data Modules) and Cognos jobs that can be leveraged by the development team for efficient report and dashboard creation. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Cognos development team, fostering best practices, code quality, and knowledge sharing.

Standards & Governance: Establish and enforce Cognos development standards, naming conventions, and governance policies to ensure consistency and maintainability across all projects. Performance Optimization: Identify and implement strategies for optimizing Cognos report and dashboard performance, ensuring efficient data retrieval and rendering. Security Architecture: Design and implement a comprehensive security model within Cognos, managing user roles, access privileges, and data-level security.

Collaboration & Communication: Effectively communicate architectural designs, technical solutions, and project progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements Gathering & Translation: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand complex reporting and analytical requirements and translate them into clear and actionable architectural designs. Hands-on Development: Remain hands-on with Cognos development, actively participating in building critical components and providing technical expertise to the team.

Environment Management: Oversee the Cognos environment, including upgrades, patching, and ensuring its stability and availability. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.5-8 years of progressive and in-depth experience as a Cognos Developer, with a significant focus on architectural design and team leadership. Extensive and demonstrable expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics, including deep understanding of Framework Manager (or Data Modules), Report Studio, Dashboard Designer, and Analysis Studio.

Proven ability to analyze and understand existing BI solutions, specifically Tableau reports, and architect their equivalent or enhanced implementation in Cognos. Strong hands-on experience in building complex and reusable Framework Manager models and Cognos jobs. Excellent SQL skills with experience querying various data sources.

Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT processes. Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience guiding and mentoring development teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Proven ability to work independently and drive technical initiatives. Preferred Skills:Experience with other BI tools and technologies.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) in the context of data and analytics. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation. Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
