Position Overview:

As a Database Administrator (DBA) with our Mumbai-based Data Platform Team, you'll be the engine behind vital data systems that support complex, real-time transactions. This small but mighty team is responsible for everything from production databases to the flow of data across development and QA environments, with oversight on auxiliary data repositories like data warehouses. We're looking for a proactive problem-solver who can roll up their sleeves to tackle issues head-on while strategically considering the bigger picture—seeing how each tweak impacts the entire platform.

What You'll Do:

• Provision MySQL instances, supporting both clustered and non-clustered setups to ensure these hefty, terabyte-sized databases run smoothly.
• Oversee secure, high-availability configurations and support continuous uptime with a near-perfect SLA of 99.999%.
• Manage production replication systems and dive into critical production issues, particularly in active, multi-data center environments.
• Profile server resource usage, optimize queries, troubleshoot performance issues, and work with the team to make our database systems run even faster.
• Partner with teammates and stakeholders to design and improve database architecture, optimizing for both stability and scalability.
• Rotate on a DBA team schedule to cover essential production support tasks like upgrades, backups, and recoveries.
• Deploy schema changes and design systems, tools, and policies to improve productivity and streamline operations.

Who You Are:

• You bring at least 5 years of DBA experience, including 3+ years in production MySQL administration, ideally in a high-traffic environment with large, replicated databases.
• Comfortable in AWS, GCP, or similar cloud environments, with expertise using RHEL on EC2, Redshift, RDS, and S3.
• Deeply familiar with MySQL architecture and the InnoDB engine, you know how to keep a database humming along, even in complex environments.
• Known for your diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail that keeps operations smooth.
• Experience with tools like Continuent Tungsten, AWS Redshift, or PostgreSQL, and a curiosity about emerging data technologies such as Kafka or in-memory databases.
